Understanding the Symptoms of Gallbladder Cancer

Tumors could potentially block the flow of bile from the gallbladder to the bile ducts. Jaundice is a recognizable symptom, because of the noticeable yellowing of the skin and eyes. Jaundice is also a very common sign of a blockage in the biliary system. Jaundice in adults is generally thought of as a symptom of liver disease, but it may also be a symptom of other conditions like gallbladder or bile duct cancer. If you are experiencing this symptom it is important to seek medical attention.

The gallbladder is small and surrounded by other organs, like the liver and stomach. For this reason, we typically cannot feel a tumor on the gallbladder. However, as the tumor grows, it may put pressure on the stomach causing pain or a bloated feeling.

Typically, the nausea, fever or itchy skin (pruritus) is a side effect of abnormal liver function or the build up of bilirubin. It is important to seek medical treatment for symptoms that may be signs of a liver problem, like jaundice, fever, or unexplained pain.

The symptoms described herein may also be signs of other liver-related conditions or diseases. If you have cause to believe you may be at risk for gallbladder cancer and have experienced any of these symptoms, you should seek counsel from a qualified medical professional.
